【Function and Indications】Carmuther™ (Carmustine Injection) is a nitrosourea used to treat certain tumor diseases.

Because it can pass through the blood-brain barrier, it is effective for brain tumors (malignant glioma, brain stem glioma, medulloblastoma, astrocytoma, ependymoma), brain metastases and meningeal leukemia, malignant lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and combined with other drugs for malignant melanoma.

【Usage and Dosage】Intravenous injection

【Adverse Reactions】After a single intravenous injection, bone marrow suppression often occurs 4 to 6 weeks after medication, the lowest white blood cell value is seen in 5 to 6 weeks, and gradually recovers in 6 to 7 weeks. However, multiple medications can delay recovery to 10 to 12 weeks. After a single intravenous injection, the lowest platelet value is seen in 4 to 5 weeks, and recovers within 6 to 7 weeks. Platelet decline is often more serious than white blood cells. Thrombophlebitis may occur at the intravenous injection site. Large doses can cause encephalomyelopathy. Long-term treatment can cause pulmonary interstitial or pulmonary fibrosis. Sometimes even pulmonary complications occur after 1 to 2 courses of treatment, and some patients cannot recover. In addition, digestive tract reactions such as nausea and vomiting may occur, which can occur 2 hours after medication and often last for 4 to 6 hours.
It affects both the liver and kidneys. Liver damage can often be recovered. Kidney toxicity can be seen in azotemia, decreased function, and kidney shrinkage.
This product has been reported to cause secondary leukemia. It is also possible to cause teratogenesis. This product can inhibit testicular or egg function, causing amenorrhea or sperm deficiency.

[Contraindications] Patients who have been allergic to this drug in the past, pregnant and lactating women are prohibited from using it.

[Pregnant women use] Pregnant women will have serious problems when using it. If you become pregnant during use or use, the patient should be aware of its potential dangers and should not use it. It is also prohibited for lactating women.
