ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that is complex. There is no cure, although there are medications that may help slow the progression of the disease, such as Relyvrio (sodium phenylbutyrate and taurine diol), newly approved in the United States. The drug can be taken alone or with other FDA-approved ALS treatment medications. Below is a compilation of some suggestions on how to take the drug, as well as problems patients may encounter.
